Teaching: Explore and conceptualize
In collaborative small groups, or through a full-class conversation, have the class solve the problem. Be sure that at least some students use the model of the tour. If students work in groups, giving each group a blank transparency helps facilitate sharing later. One example of how to move through the exploration phase is presented in Explore, which you can reach through the Navigation window.
At this time, it is useful to introduce the mathematical vocabulary of the tour to facilitate conversations. You can find a list of relevant mathematical terms under the Concepts heading in the Navigation window. These terms are in turn linked to pages with formal definitions. You might also suggest problem-solving techniques as appropriate.
